Benji Kirkpatrick

Described by Time Out as a 'fretboard wizard, Benji Kirkpatrick is an engaging and experienced performer with a unique and distinctive style that is fresh and powerful.

Benji's second solo CD 'Half a Fruit Pie' was released on the Fellside label in 2004. His first, 'Dance in the Shadow' came out in 1998 on the Wild Goose label.

In addition to his solo work, Benji has collaborated with both peers and veterans of the English folk scene on a number of high profile projects notably bellowhead, Dr Faustus (now also as part of Faustus), a duo with the Mercury nominated Seth Lakeman with whom he also worked on a trio project with the Oysterband's John Jones and the Oysterband Big Session's first tour alongside Jim Moray, Cara Dillon, Rose Kemp and Eliza Carthy.

Having studied performing arts at college, Benji developed an interest in theatre and has worked with West Midlands based touring theatre company Pentabus on a number of productions as well as composing the music for Tim Plester's stage western 'Yellow Longhair' in 2000.

Benji also plays in his father's ceilidh band Mr Gubbin's Bicycle and as an occasional duo with his mother, Sue Harris.
